How to have healthier relationships?

Do you want to create stronger, healthier and more meaningful relationships?  Look at how you connect with others at home, work and partners? Are you connecting, disconnected or unaware?  Being a corporate trainer and meeting people across the country, one thing I found to be true no matter who I met or where, people seemed to be challenged in connecting to others.

I often heard… “You just don’t understand who I work with?” or “If you knew my husband/wife, you’d understand”. This statement was repeated daily and it began to make me see that the biggest challenge happening was lack of connection to themselves.  Most who found fault in others had little self awareness.

Self Awareness… this is where many have stopped evolving.  Their personal awareness of who they are and what their presence does to others.  People have disconnected themselves from responsibility of their own actions.  They decided that if others don’t behave in certain ways that they are exempt from having to perform simple acts of respect and kindness themselves.  They have neglected looking into their own character and evaluating if they themselves are acting out poorly or childishly.

It’s as if the standards are being lowered to the weakest link instead.  This pattern was appalling to me given it’s such a simple fix.  Go within and ask yourself…

What is my current self awareness?

What qualities do I exhibit and am I even aware of my presence when I walk into a room?

What energy do I give off when others are around me?

Are you aware of how you make others feel?

Are you aware of the impact you have on every person you meet?

This awareness of yourself changes the climate in every environment.   This gives you power to change, improve and connect to any person or group at any moment.  Changing others is impossible until you are aware of how you affect them. Decide how you want to appear to others and become aware if you are making that impact.  Become aware of how you leave others feeling after they meet you?  This is how you make meaningful relationships, by making yourself more loving, kind, understanding, compassionate and respectful.  And it happens simply by becoming Self Aware.  If you want healthier relationships?  Quite reviewing others and start a self review today.
