Not your Job
It’s not your job to like me, it’s mine.-Byron Katie
So often I see clients angry, hurt, depressed or stuck in their life due to the thoughts they have about another person. Expressing that it frustrates them that they don’t get along or don’t see eye to eye.
If they would “understand me” or listen better, we wouldn’t have a strained relationship.
If you read that last sentence again, it’s an “IF….”THEN” statement, and I hear it often. If this would happen, Then I will be ok!
The truth is if you don’t like you, others can feel it and respond with their own internal dislike….reflecting back to you like a mirror. When you expect others to like you, your actions or words, you put conditions on the other person. That’s conditional love.
If you want healthier relationships with anyone at home, work or community, start with liking you first. They will feel your joy and not feel pulled to understand you because it won’t be a relationship with expectations you need. Instead it will be one you see with unconditional love, compassion and understanding!
Brightest Blessings,
Daune
